About Dylan Ryder
Dylan Ryder, born Shannon Marie Lybarger on February 23, 1981, is an American former adult film actress and model. Born and raised in Fresno, California, she is of Italian and German descent. Before entering the entertainment industry, Ryder was a competitive swimmer and water polo player from the age of eight until her junior year of high school. After completing her schooling, she moved to the California Central Coast to study nursing and later worked as a substance abuse and rehabilitation treatment counselor for prison inmates.
Ryder's career in adult entertainment began in 2004 when she completed her first shoot at age 23 for Reality Kings. Her career path was unique for its mid-career hiatus. She entered the industry in 2004 but left after roughly six to seven months. During this hiatus, she relocated to Arizona to work as a state correctional officer. She re-entered the adult industry full-time in July 2008. Over the next several years, she worked with major production companies including Vivid, Wicked Pictures, Girlfriends Films, and Lethal Hardcore, as well as digital platforms like BangBros and Brazzers. Between 2011 and 2012, she signed an exclusive performing contract with Bluebird Films, which concluded in 2012. She officially announced her retirement from performing in May 2012.
Ryder comes from a close-knit family and is the oldest of three siblings. Her two younger sisters, Jocelyn and Jillian Lybarger, are well-known twins who competed professionally as a mixed martial arts, or MMA, duo.
In 2011 and 2012, her performances earned her multiple industry nominations from the AVN, XBIZ, and XRCO Awards, including a nomination for Unsung Starlet of the Year. She also co-hosted the 28th Annual XRCO Awards Show in April 2012. She crossed over into mainstream print media, appearing in various international publications, including a feature in the March 2012 issue of Maxim magazine. In 2010, she expanded her portfolio by co-authoring the first chapter of the book Porn - Philosophy for Everyone: How to Think With Kink. That same year, she worked as a sideline interviewer covering female MMA fighters at the Tuff-N-Uff Amateur Fighting Championships in Las Vegas. In her personal life, she enjoys traveling, reading true crime literature, swimming, and spending time at the beach. She currently resides in Orange County, California.
